Also note that if only one side is sending messages over a particular socket (with no messages coming back), it will eventually send a heartbeat request over that socket to make sure that the other side is still alive. The Communication Manager version information is returned in the response. This is the result of executing a System Access Terminal (SAT) command 'busy-out cti-link X'. This is could be verified by looking at the command history using SAT command list history. If this is the case, then the CTI link could be brought back in service using the command 'release cti-link X'. Application Enablement Services has received an export classification of 5D002.c.1 ENC Unrestricted. On a S8700 Communication Manager server, there is a limit of 10,000 monitored VDNs per server. This is not an AE Services limitation, but is imposed by the size of a data structure in Communication Manager. There is no coded limit to the number of VDNs that can be entered into the AE Services Security Data Base. These APIs provide the relevant information about Call Centers and Agents. The APIs provide a means of getting information on the Call Center agent states as well. If an application is running on a Microsoft platform, consider using TSAPI which will provide the necessary help. If an application is using Java, using JTAPI will prove to be beneficial. To robustly handle the failover situation in this environment, twice the licenses that a single server would need are required. If a call is triggered to a busy destination (either manually by using the physical phone, or programmatically by using the call control APIs), Communication Manager provides a busy tone to the calling station. In case of a CTI application monitoring the call, Communication Manager sends a CTI event to the application indicating the cause of the failure.
If no further action is taken after an interval of 30 to 40 seconds, the call is cleared to free up the resources it was using so that those resources may be diverted to other calls. If the CTI application wishes, it can either trigger a clearing of the busy call and then place a replacement call, or it can wait until Communication Manager clears the call (and provides relevant events to indicate the same) and then initiate new calls. For example, assume that a call originates on trunk A and terminates to station B, and station B answers the call and subsequently transfers the call to station C. If station C is the only monitored station of the group, then in the transferred event, the information regarding party A will show up as a dynamic device identifier, and A's identity will be unknown to the CTI application. In this case, the AE Services server just provides a trunk reference (a dynamic device ID) at the transferred monitored device C. Since the AE Services server has no information about the calling party (the off-PBX number) because Communication Manager did not provide calling party number, AE Services server provides a dynamic device Id as the off-PBX calling party's number. If instead, there are monitors on B and C prior to originating the call, then in the transferred event, the monitor for C will be provided with A's identity (assuming that A's identity was provided). The Acquired column displays the number of current licenses being used by AES applications. A similar table will be displayed with columns indicating peak usage in the last 7 days and peak usage in the last 30 days. Third party call control capabilities include controlling specific calls or stations, complete routing of incoming calls, receiving notifications of events, invoking Communication Manager features and querying Communication Manager for information. The TSAPI interface provides call control services such as Direct-Agent Call and Predictive Dialing between two devices.
The TSAPI Route Request Service Group allows the Communication Manager to request and receive routing instructions for a call from an adjunct application. The TSAPI Query Service Group describes services that allow a client application to query the switch to provide the device's state (e.g. talking state), feature state (e.g. call forwarding satus) and static attributes (e.g. device name). The TSAPI Escape Services Group allows an application to request a private service that is not defined by the CSTA Standard. Avaya has implemented a variety of services accessed through the Escape service such as Single Step Conference. It also provides basic third party call control. Device control allows applications to manipulate and monitor the physical aspects of devices, such as buttons, lamps, the display and the ringer. Applications can simulate manual actions on devices and obtain the status of their physical elements. The application is doing device control only. The DMCC service enables application developers to access Avaya Communication Manager's telephony features via the following supported CSTA services:While the vector may not be 'ringing' in the traditional sense, the transfer operation is supported by Communication Manager. Verify that the IP address of the CLAN(s) specified in the 'Name or IP Address' column is correct (i.e. is a CLAN or procr IP address on Communication Manager). If the IP address is incorrect, correct the IP address by adding the correct Communication Manager CLAN or procr IP address(es) and deleting the incorrect address(es) by using the buttons on the 'Edit CLAN IPs' AE Services form. Verify that the status of the switch connection under 'Conn State' column is 'Talking.' If there are multiple CLANs provisioned click on Switch Connection Details and verify the state of all the CLANs is 'Talking.' If any interface is not in the 'Talking' state continue investigating.
Verify that the Switch CTI link number matches the CTI link configured in Avaya Communication Manager. Use the command 'list cti-link' at the System Access Terminal (SAT) command prompt of Avaya Communication Manager to list the configured CTI links and get the correct CTI-link number. Select the Communication Manager Switch Connection that has been configured and click Edit Connection and update the password. Also follow Step 2.b in the Avaya Communication Manager section below to set the corresponding password in Avaya Communication Manager. There is no mechanism to check what the provisioned password is. If the CLAN or procr IP address is not set correctly, then correct the IP address using the command 'change node-names ip'. If the switch connection uses the procr interface use the 'display ip-interface procr' command. If the procr IP address does not match that which is provisioned in AE Services, return to step 1 and change the provisioned IP address for the switch connection on AE Services.Screen shot is shown in step 2.c below. Compare this to the output of the 'hostname -s' Linux command on AE Services. The TSAPI client can be installed using the Avaya installer for the appropriate operating system, or by providing an equivalent installer. For Windows systems, the installer must install the required dlls ( CSTA32.DLL and ATTPRIV32.DLL ), TSAPI client library configuration file ( TSAPI.INI ), and update the registry entry. For Linux systems, the installer must install TSAPI client library configuration file ( tslibrc ) and libraries ( libattpriv.so, libcsta.so ). Note that AE Services Overview document contains fewer endpoints for some releases. Note also that the Compatibility Matrix requires SSO access to Avaya content. No other SIP endpoints (neither Avaya or third party) are officially supported for use with CTI.
A switch connection to one Communication Manager using three CLANs and another to a different Communication Manager using two CLANs would require a total of five licenses. A switch connection with one CLAN uses only one AEC license. However, if a second CLAN is configured as part of an AE Services Switch Connection, the AE Services server would consume two AEC licenses. In order to use a third CLAN, they need to purchase an additional AEC license.A connection between AE Services and a procr interface on Communication Manager consumes one AEC license. The device needs to be configured in the AE Services server device list under Security Database with the correct Device type. For a Hunt Group, the device type is 'ACD', For a Vector Directory Number, the Device type is 'VDN'. A Station is configured with type as 'PHONE'. To monitor Hunt Group, Address.addCallObserver() method is used and a Vector Directory Number is monitored using CallCenterAddress.addCallObserver(). DMCC doesn't support Vector Directory Number and Hunt Group monitor. A station can be in an Idle (on-hook), in a Busy (off-hook) or an out of service state. An Agent can be LOGGED IN or LOGGED OUT.The method returns the 'number of available Agents', 'Agents logged in to a Hunt group' and 'number of calls in queue' in the confirmation event. By utilizing the Agent's current state, the number of available Agents in a Hunt group can be determined. When a Call Center Agent changes into the AUX Work mode or logs out, depending on system and agent-loginID configuration settings, the Agent can provide a reason code. Reason Codes give Call Center managers detailed information about how Agents spend their time. This data can be used to develop more precise staffing forecasting models or can be used with schedule-adherence packages to ensure that Agents are performing scheduled activities at the scheduled times.

The Editorial Process It has four stages: the draft manuscript, manuscript review, the final manuscript, and processing of accepted manuscripts. Along the way, responsibility for the different stages passes from the author, to the journal or book editor, back to the author, and finally to the technical editor. This chapter provides an overview of each of these stages as they evolve in scientific, technical, and medical (STM) publishing. Writing Style and Word Usage Scientific writing, in particular, must be precise and unambiguous to be effective. This chapter presents guidelines for correct sentence structure and word usage. Other chapters of this book present topics also related to good writing style. Chapter 2 discusses the parts of a scientific paper; Chapter 3 presents an overview of the editorial process. The purpose of this chapter is not to duplicate this document, but rather to discuss some of the important underlying principles and situations that often arise. Scientific Papers Scientists communicate in a variety of ways, but much of the communication is through publication in books and journals. In this chapter, the different types of book and journal presentations are described, along with the components of the standard format for reporting original research.
Punctuation, spelling, and word usage are also discussed in Chapter 11 with respect to numbers, mathematics, and units of measure and in Chapter 12 with respect to chemical names. Editorial Style The style recommended by ACS is, for the most part, taken from established authoritative sources, such as The Chicago Manual of Style, Words into Type, and the United States Government Printing Office Style Manual. Numbers, Mathematics, and Units of Measure The usage and style conventions for numerals and words are different for technical and nontechnical material. Names and Numbers for Chemical Compounds More than one million new substances are reported each year, each of which must be identified clearly, unambiguously, and completely in the primary literature. For more information on naming chemical compounds, refer to the bibliography in Chapter 18. This chapter gives the editorial conventions and style points for chemical compound names. Figures Betsy Kulamer The past 10 years have seen a radical technological shift in the way figures are created by authors and handled by publishers. Whereas authors previously submitted figures that were camera-ready—that is, ready for the printer’s camera to photograph before making printing plates— today many authors create figures using computer software, and most publishers encourage electronic versions of figures. This chapter presents guidelines for working with figures using the computer tools currently in widespread use; it also includes recommendations regarding the use of color, fonts, and scanners, as well as good style for citing and captioning figures.

Chapter 14 contains the rules for how to cite references in text and create a bibliography. Consult Chapter 14 for more detailed citation issues. These abbreviations are standardized by the Chemical Abstract Service Source Index (CASSI). Just search for the name of the journal and CASSI will give you the appropriate abbreviation. Citation Managers will help you: If a reference is cited more than once, it does not receive a new number. If citing more than one reference at a time, include reference numbers in increasing order separated by commas. Different reference formats (book vs. journal vs. website) have different rules for citation. See below for some common format examples. Omit words like “Company,” “Inc.,” “Publisher,” and “Press” in publishers’ names. Some ACS publications include the chapter title in book references, while others do not. When rotating, the permanent magnet motor feeds power to the intermediate circuit of the drive and also the supply connections become live (even when the inverter is stopped!). Disconnect the motor from the drive with a safety switch, or lock the motor shaft and earth the motor connection terminals temporarily by connecting them together as well as to the PE. To avoid damage to motor bearings, insulated N-end (non-driven end) bearings and output filters from ABB must be used according to the following table. In addition, the cables must be selected and installed according to the instructions given in this manual. The common mode filter is composed of toroidal cores installed onto the motor cable. The motor manufacturer should be consulted regarding the construction of the motor insulation and additional requirements for explosion-safe motors. Failure of the motor to fulfil the following requirements or improper installation may shorten motor life or damage the motor bearings.Consult the motor manufacturer. When equipped with a main contactor option, the drive also includes a Power Loss Ride-through function which keeps the drive control live during during a short main supply break. Emergency Stop Devices Emergency stop devices must be installed at each operator control station and at other operating stations where emergency stop may be required. Pressing the key on the Control Panel of ACx 600 does not generate an emergency stop of the motor or separate the drive from dangerous potential. Line Contactor and Emergency Stop Switch are factory installed as option for ACx 6x7.As with all frequency converters employing the most modern IGBT inverter technology, the ACx 600 output comprises regardless of output frequency pulses of approximately 1.35 times the mains network voltage with a very short rise time. The voltage of the pulses can be almost double at the motor terminals, depending on the motor cable properties. This in turn can cause additional stress on the motor insulation.
The ACx 600 and the motor must be earthed at the installation site to ensure personnel safety in all circumstances and in addition to reduce electromagnetic emission and pick-up. Make sure that earthing (grounding) conductors are adequately sized as required by safety regulations.In addition, cable screens have to be connected to protective earth (PE) in order to meet safety regulations. Power cable screens are suitable for use as equipment earthing (grounding) conductors only when the screen conductors are adequately sized as required by safety regulations. The ACx 600 earth (ground) terminals should not be connected in series in case of a multiple installation. Incorrect earthing can cause physical injury, death or equipment malfunction and increase electromagnetic interference. IEC 664 requires double or reinforced insulation between live parts and the surface of accessible parts of electrical equipment which are either non-conductive or conductive but not connected to the protective earth. To fulfil this requirement, the connection of a thermistor (and other similar components) to the digital inputs of ACx 600 can be implemented in three alternate ways: 1. There is double or reinforced insulation between the thermistor and live parts of the motor. 2. Circuits connected to all digital and analogue inputs of the ACx 600 are protected against contact, and insulated with basic insulation (the same voltage level as the converter main circuit) from other low voltage circuits. 3. An external thermistor relay is used. The insulation of the relay must be rated for the same voltage level as the converter main circuit.WARNING! The printed circuit boards contain integrated circuits that are extremely sensitive to electrostatic discharge. Exercise appropriate care when working on the unit to avoid permanent damage to the circuits. Do not touch the boards unnecessarily. Cooling WARNING! The cooling air flows and space requirements must be fulfilled.
There are several automatic reset functions in the ACS 600 (with Standard Application Program). If selected, they reset the unit and resume operation after a fault. These functions should not be selected if other equipment is not compatible with this kind of operation, or dangerous situations can be caused by such action. WARNING! If an external source for start command is selected and it is ON, the ACS 600 (with Standard Application Program) will start immediately after fault reset.These devices are not designed to be used with frequency converters, and will degrade motor control accuracy. They can cause permanent damage to the ACx 600 or themselves due to the rapid changes in the ACx 600 output voltage. If there are power factor compensation capacitors in parallel with the ACx 600 make sure that the capacitors and the ACx 600 are not charged simultaneously to avoid voltage surges which might damage the unit. Output Contactors Earth (Ground) Connections Relay Contacts If a contactor is used between the output of the ACx 600 and the motor with DTC control mode selected, the output voltage of the ACx 600 must be controlled to zero before the contactor is opened. Otherwise the contactor will be damaged. With Standard Application Program, check the settings of Parameters STOP FUNCTION and RUN ENABLE. Varistors or RC networks (AC) or diodes (DC) should be used to protect against voltage transients generated by contactor coils. The protective components should be mounted as close as possible to the contactor coils. Protective components should not be installed at the NIOC board terminal block. When used with inductive loads (relays, contactors, motors), the relay contacts of ACx 600 must be protected with varistors or RC networks (AC) or diodes (DC) against voltage transients. The protective components should not be installed at the NIOC board terminal block. The ACx 600 and adjoining equipment must be properly earthed.

Before attempting installation and operation, check the information on the frequency converter nameplate to verify that the unit is of the correct model. Each ACx 600 is fitted with a nameplate for identification purposes. The nameplate data includes a type code and a serial number, which allow individual recognition of each unit. The type code contains information on the properties and configuration of the unit. The first digit of the serial number refers to the manufacturing plant. The next four digits refer to the unit s manufacturing year and week, respectively. The remaining digits complete the serial number so that there are no two units with the same serial number. Insulation Checks Every ACx 600 unit has been tested for insulation between main circuit and chassis (2500 V rms 50 Hz for 1 second) at the factory. Therefore there is no need to check the insulation on the unit again. When checking the insulation of the assembly, proceed in the following manner: WARNING. Insulation checks must be performed before connecting the ACx 600 to the mains. Before proceeding with the insulation resistance measurements make sure that the ACx 600 is disconnected from the mains. 9 PE M 1. Check that the motor cable is disconnected from the ACx 600 output terminals U2, V2 and W2. 2. Measure the insulation resistances of motor cable and the motor between each phase and Protective Earth with measuring voltage 1 kv d.c. The insulation resistance must be higher than 1 M9. Mains Fuses Fuses are needed to protect the input bridge of the ACx 600 in case of an internal short circuit. The ACx 604 is not equipped with input fuses. An ultrarapid fuse must be used. The ACx 600 protects the input and motor cables from overload when the cables are dimensioned according to the nominal current of the ACx 600. When the ultrarapid fuses of the ACx 604 are placed at the distribution board, they protect the input cable in case of a short circuit. Cabling Instructions Power Cables The mains and motor cables must be dimensioned according to local regulations: 1. The cable must be able to carry the ACx 600 load current. 2. The cable terminals of ACx 600 warm up to 60 C (140 F) during operation. The cable must be rated for at least 60 C (140 F) maximum operating temperature. 3 The cable must fulfil the requirements of the short-circuit protection used. 4.
Special attention must be paid to cooling if units are installed in confined spaces and user defined cabinets. Air flow from below, e.g. a cable conduit, into the cabinet must be prevented. This is essential for fire safety reasons, and to retain the original degree of protection. For best results, use the lead-through plates delivered with the unit. Mechanical Installation CAUTION. The ACx 6x7 should only be transported on the original pallet, or with a proper lifting device using the lifting lugs on top of the cabinet. The frequency converter is not intended to be lifted by running lines under the unit. The ACx 6x7 centre of gravity is quite high, and there is the risk of overturning. The ACx 6x7 can be laid on its back to fit through confined spaces. Exercise appropriate care when manoeuvring the unit to avoid damage and injury. This work should only be attempted with two or more people working together. CAUTION! Make sure that dust from drilling does not enter the ACx 600 when installing. Electrically conductive dust inside the unit may cause damage or lead to malfunction. CAUTION! The ACx 6x7 should not be fastened by any other point than the holes at its base or the fastening hooks. Do not fasten the ACx 600 by riveting or welding. WARNING! Make sure that the ACx 6x7 is disconnected from the mains network during installation. The switch fuse (with handle in the front door) of the ACx 6x7 does not switch off power from the EMC Line Filter. Disconnect the ACx 6x7 with EMC Line Filter from the mains network at the distribution board. Wait for 5 minutes before working on the frequency converter, the motor or the motor cable. Note: On units not equipped with main contactors, additional wiring by the commissioner is required for activation of the mains fuse supervision of the ACx 6x7 and the earth fault detection functions of the ACx 627.
